Flexible Packaging Films

Suitable for film products used in courier bags, food packaging, shopping bags, household and personal care product packaging, electronic product packaging, printed and laminated packaging, and industrial packaging. Different packaging applications have varying requirements for color consistency, opacity, film surface quality, and processing stability. Polytech provides white, color, and functional masterbatch solutions tailored to film materials, thickness, target colors, and processing conditions, helping reduce issues such as gels, fisheyes, color spots, streaks, rough film surfaces, and screen blockage.

01Dispersion & Streaks

Color specks and streaks become easy to spot when packaging film is thin. A masterbatch with a suitable carrier and good pigment dispersion helps produce a more even appearance. Trials should use the intended film resin and thickness, with checks on dosing and equipment cleanliness before changing the formulation.

02Coverage & Opacity

White film can look opaque on the roll but translucent as a single layer. Increasing the dosage alone may add cost without giving the required coverage. Evaluate white masterbatch on the finished film at its actual thickness, and compare opacity alongside sealing and mechanical performance.

03Friction & Blocking

Film that sticks together or feeds unevenly can interrupt bag making and packing. Slip and antiblock masterbatches need to suit the film structure and downstream process. Check opening and friction after the intended storage period, together with print adhesion, lamination and heat sealing where applicable.

Representative Case Study

Real-world solution verifying optimized opacity coverage and superior non-blocking friction values for global packaging trials.
  • Challenge

A white PE packaging film looked opaque on the roll but showed insufficient coverage as a single layer. Increasing the white masterbatch dosage raised costs without achieving the required opacity. After storage, the film also became difficult to open during bag making.
  • Solution

Trial a white masterbatch suited to the film resin and target thickness, comparing single-layer opacity and dispersion at different dosages.Review the slip and antiblock formulation alongside winding and storage conditions, then check opening, friction and heat sealing after the agreed storage period.
  • Expected Outcome

Achieve the required single-layer opacity at a practical dosage and improve bag opening after storage, while maintaining the required seal strength and mechanical performance. Confirm the results through film and bag-making trials.
