Industrial products & surface protection

Suitable for industrial plastic components, industrial sheets, industrial profiles, edge banding, and surface protection films. Industrial plastic products typically require stable continuous production, consistent color, good surface quality, and reliable batch-to-batch consistency. Protective films also require good surface flatness and effective gel control. Polytech provides tailored masterbatch solutions based on the material, product thickness, target color, and processing conditions.

01Dispersion & Surface Protection

Protective film is meant to preserve a finished surface, so small particles and raised defects matter. Poor pigment dispersion or contamination can create protrusions that mark a surface under pressure. A masterbatch suited to thin protective film should be evaluated for visible defects on the actual film, followed by contact trials on the intended substrate.

02Unwinding & Adhesion

Protective films also need controlled unwinding and removal. Slip or antiblock additives can change surface behavior, so selection must account for the adhesive or self-cling layer. Check adhesion, peeling and surface residue after the intended storage and exposure conditions rather than assessing the film immediately after production.

03Durability & Reuse

Reusable industrial trays and handling parts face a different set of demands, including repeated contact, cleaning and sometimes outdoor storage. Color and functional masterbatches should suit the base resin and use conditions. Confirm any required scratch, impact or weathering performance on the finished part; uniform color alone is not enough to qualify it.

Representative Case Study

Eliminate surface defects in blue PE protective films with our high-dispersion masterbatch, preventing particle agglomeration and pressure marks while ensuring clean removal and reliable adhesion.
  • Challenge

A blue PE protective film showed small raised particles. Contact trials under stacking pressure left localized impressions on a coated metal panel.
  • Solution

Identify contamination or pigment agglomerates, then trial a masterbatch with dispersion suited to protective film. Compare defects at the same film thickness and repeat contact and peel tests using the same coating and adhesive system.
  • Expected Outcome

Meet the agreed film-defect and surface-marking limits while retaining the required adhesion and clean removal, as confirmed by application trials.
