Agricultural Applications

Suitable for agricultural mulch films, greenhouse films, silage films, agricultural covering films, irrigation pipes, and other agricultural plastic products. Agricultural plastic products are commonly used outdoors and require reliable color stability, dispersion, continuous processing performance, and weather resistance. Polytech provides color and functional masterbatch solutions tailored to the product material, thickness, color, and application environment. UV-resistant, anti-aging, and other functional masterbatches are also available according to specific application requirements.

01UV Stability & Agrochemical Resistance

Agricultural films and nets face prolonged sunlight, heat and chemical exposure. Choosing a UV masterbatch requires more than a target service period: location, film thickness and agrochemical use all matter. Sulfur and chlorine exposure can affect stabilizer performance, so the formulation should be assessed for the intended growing conditions.

02Color & Light Transmission

Color also affects how an agricultural film handles light. A mulch film intended to block light needs adequate coverage at its working thickness, while a greenhouse cover may need high transmission. Select color or white masterbatch for the specific film function and evaluate its optical properties on the finished structure.

03Antifog & Condensation Control

Droplets on the inside of a greenhouse cover can obstruct light and drip onto plants. An antifog masterbatch should be selected for the resin and film layer where it is used. Confirm the effect after conditioning and consider its interaction with the UV package; initial antifog performance alone does not establish how long it will last.

Representative Case Study

Optimize your PE greenhouse film's lifespan with tailored UV solutions that resist sulfur-based agrochemicals and prevent premature embrittlement.
  • Challenge

A PE greenhouse film became brittle before its intended replacement date. The growing site used sulfur-based treatments, making the suitability of the existing UV package a concern.
  • Solution

Review film thickness, exposure and treatment history. Trial a UV masterbatch suited to the expected agrochemical conditions, and compare retained strength and elongation after relevant aging tests and field exposure.
  • Expected Outcome

Improve resistance to premature embrittlement under the agreed conditions. Confirm the service period through testing and field records before making a lifetime claim.
